The Merchants of Haliburton : Downtown Memories.......
Object Number:
A985.4.29
The Story:
Haliburton merchant Charlie Kellett poses outside his general store at the South West corner of Highland Street and Maple Avenue with his 1912 Model T Ford, the village's first automobile. The store with attached house was a typical architectural configuration of the time. Various merchants occupied the premises over the years. The residential wing was torn down around 1940 to make way for the construction of the Molou Theatre, which opened in 1941. The store presently houses Boatwerks (sic).
