The Story:
The "alligator" was an amphibious tug capable of towing log booms down a lake or winching itself over low spots to another navigable body of water. This image shows an alligator belonging to the William Laking Lumber Company. It is reputed to have been taken on Mud Lake, now Outlet Bay, of Drag Lake. Booms of logs cover much of the lake. This photo was likely taken on the occasion of a company picnic circa 1907.
