Agnes Jamieson Gallery

The Agnes Jamieson Gallery was founded in 1981 and is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Agnes Jamieson who worked diligently to ensure Minden had an art gallery where the significant and growing collection of André Lapine’s work would be preserved.

Andre Lapine and his wife came to Minden in the 1940s, staying at Billy Hamilton’s farm on South Lake. The Haliburton area was known to many artists as a beautiful place to visit and paint. In his later years, Lapine boarded with local undertaker Frank Welch, many times paying his board with his paintings. Frank Welch bequeathed this collection of paintings to the Township.

The Agnes Jamieson Gallery has a new focus for its programming. Primarily, the exhibitions will be Canadian landscape, which reflects the gallery's collection, location and community. This will include influential landscape art of the past and exhibitions addressing the continuous development of Canadian landscape today.
