Stanhope Heritage MuseumWe’re small on size but big on local heritage, and our quaint little building is chock o’ block full with weird and wonderful tidbits and tales. Meet our pioneers, hear a story, lean a lesson or spin a yarn yourself – we’re always eager to learn more history! The World’s Largest Lumberjack is just waiting for a photo op, and don’t forget your jar of our World Famous citron marmalade. The Heritage Gardens pay homage to the settlers who transformed the wilderness. Learn about the historic medicinal uses of plants, enjoy the Perennial garden blooms, and see what’s up in the Vegetable and Herb Gardens. See the working scale model of the Hawk Lake Log Chute in the museum, then go visit the actual historic site. The only wooden log chute in the province is nestled alongside a rock face of 2 billion-year-old rock, where the 220 foot structure hugs the Hawk River. If you can’t visit in person, we’re open year round online. Our website offers research information and fabulous Photo Galleries, where you can find your ancestors, help us identify folks in the “Mystery Pix”, and even buy old photos online! The site includes a section on the log chute, and photos show the entire restoration process. Open: Admission: Address:
