The Story:
Sisters Dorothy and Marjorie Clarke posed on a boulder located up off Mountain Street with the eastern half of the village as a backdrop. The Lucas house figures prominently in the background to the right of Marjorie who clutches the latest edition of McCall's Magazine. A plume of smoke from the sawdust burner or steam from the mill wafts over the village. Dorothy eventually enjoyed a long career as Haliburton's postmistress and Marjorie married and moved to Port Dover. Marjorie under her pen name "Ging" wrote a series of articles about growing up in Haliburton village under the title "This I Remember".
