The Story:
John Humphrey "Ray" Lucas took over the Grand Central Hotel from his father John Albert Lucas, around 1912. He ran the hotel until the mid 1930s, when it was leased to other parties. He is shown here in the west side yard of the hotel with his wife May (nee Irish). Their son Lyle, (born 1915) ran the hotel from the late 1930s until 1942 when the Lucas family sold the business and premises to an outside concern, ending their Haliburton hotel days, which dated back to 1870.
