Carnarvon Post Office
Description:
Digital image of Rogers Store, Carnarvon, showing a pale, clapboard sided house with large front windows and a false front. The second storey has a door in the centre of it while the door on the main level is in a recessed alcove. The building and grounds are covered with snow.

This was the location of the Carnarvon post office. From 1907 to 1943, Thomas H. Rogers was postmaster. Other persons who operated the post office and store at this location were Gordon Allcorn, Phillip Allcorn, Margaret Olive Barnes, Ian Forbes Gray and Mrs. Shirley Gray.
The first telephone call in Stanhope Township was made from this store in 1921 to the Sisson farmhouse on what is now Stanhope Airport Road..
